8 Cool Extension To Enhance Firefox With.

Firefox extensionsI mainly use the 3 most well know browsers, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox. The reason I use all three is so that I can ensure my blogs looks like I want them in the three most popular browsers. The other reason I use more than one browser is because they have some nice extensions or add-on that sometimes work best in a specific browser or is only available for specific browsers.

I am going to post a small list which myself and many other people have found handy that you can use to enhance the functionality of Firefox. I would suggest you only install extensions that you find useful as it can have a negative effect on your browsers performance if you have too many extensions installed. Here is a list of useful Firefox extensions that you can install to enhance Firefox and improve your productivity and online experience.

SpeedDial – (Get SpeedDial here)

What Speed Dial does is give you a quick access interface to websites that you use often. When you open a new tab in Firefox it has a quick link to the websites that you want. It is configurable so that you can customize it to show the websites you want. This is very useful if you have some sites you use on a regular basis.

CoolPreviews – () (Update – unfortunately no longer available)

CoolPreviews enable you to see a small preview of a link. All you do is hover your mouse over the link. It helps a lot as you get an idea of how the link looks without actually opening it.

ScrapBook – (Get ScrapBook here)

I am pretty sure very few people have ever heard of this extension. ScrapBook is a cool Firefox extension which enable you to save a web page and be able to read it later. It is also very easy to manage your collection of saved pages.

Customize Google – (Get Customize Google here)

I am pretty sure that nearly everybody using the Internet have heard about Google J Google is one of the most popular search engines and most likely the best. This Firefox extension allows you to tweak Google so that you can extract even more out of Google.

Customize Google is an add-on that allows us to do things like:

  • Remove unwanted ads and spam.
  • Add additional search engine results to Google like Yahoo, Msn, Ask etc.

The best is that all features are optional and you are able to configure it just like you want to.

ScreenGrab – (Get ScreenGrab here)

The name is actually very self-explanatory. This Firefox add-on allows you to grab a whole page and save it as an image. You can also select only a part of the screen and then save that part as an image.

BetterGmail 2 – (Get BetterGmail 2 here)

Gmail is a very popular free email service provided by Google. Once it is loaded, Gmail is fast and works very well. Unfortunately there are some features missing in the default Gmail interface.

Better Gmail 2 adds a lot of features and skins to the normal Gmail interface.

StumbleUpon – (Get StumbleUpon here)

Stumble Upon is a very useful website and helps you to find more pages related to your interest. This extension adds the Stumble Upon toolbar that will make it easier for you to find new websites and to add reviews and ratings.

FlashBlock – (Get FlashBlock here)

At times I am very paranoid about security while online and I am very sure that you are to! No one wants to give hackers a chance to take advantage of any bugs on a website. This extension is especially valuable to people using Stumble Upon a lot or that visits a lot of website.

Embedded flash objects are very popular and you will find it in a lot of websites. Unfortunately these flash objects sometimes contains malicious code that is used by hackers and cyber criminals.

Flash Block is a program that helps in preventing infections from such malicious code. What it does is block the flash component, but gives you the ability to allow it if you want. Many belief this is a must have security add-on for Firefox.
